Sphinx

Sphinx is an open-source Git hook that pauses pushes to protected branches and quizzes you on what the AI-written change actually does. A separate reviewer model reads only the committed diff and asks one to three questions about its behaviour, edge cases and failure modes; a wrong answer brings an explanation and a fresh scenario on the same concept, and a pass lets the push continue. It works with Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode and Pi, runs on macOS, Linux and WSL, and is free to use — teams supply their own model or API access.
