2026-11-01 New Features: Smarter Search, More Sorts, and Easier Comparing
Today brings a search box that understands plain language, three new ways to sort search results, a mobile-app filter and more sorts on list and category pages, CSV export and one-click three-way comparison, a one-click shortcut to a tool's official site, a friendlier language picker, and a 404 page that recommends popular tools.

Today's update is all about finding the right tool faster. Here is what is new.
Search that understands plain language
When you type a plain-language request such as a free coding tool, the search results now show a banner that explains what it understood and links straight to the pre-filtered list. You no longer need to learn the filter layout first.
More ways to sort search results
Search results can now be sorted by likes, by number of alternatives, and by launch date, newest or oldest. Use likes to see what visitors like most, alternatives to see the most compared tools, and launch date to find the newest or the earliest tools.
Search filters and shortcuts
Search gains a hide-discontinued filter, so stopped tools disappear from results. A clear-all link removes every filter and non-default sort while keeping your query. The search box remembers your last five searches and offers them in a dropdown when you focus it, pressing / focuses the header search box on any page, and a search with no results now offers a shortcut to suggest that tool.
List and category pages gain filters and sorts
The tool list and category pages gain a mobile-app filter, so you can see only tools with a phone app. Category pages also gain an open-source-only filter. Both pages can now be sorted by likes and by number of alternatives, and a category page whose filters match nothing now explains that and links back to clear the filters.
Compare more easily
The comparison page can now export the current table as a CSV file, ready for a spreadsheet. On an alternatives overview page, a single button now compares a tool against its top two alternatives in one click.
Cards, home page, and language picker
Every tool card now has a small button that goes straight to the tool's official site, so you can skip the detail page when you already know what you want. The home page gains a weekly-new-tools shortcut in its popular searches row, and its hottest, latest, and per-category sections no longer show discontinued tools. The header language picker is now a popover list with native language names in alphabetical order and the current language highlighted.
A 404 page that recommends popular tools
A mistyped address now ends with a section of the hottest tools on the site. Even when you land on a dead link, you can jump straight to a popular tool instead of starting over.
